Psychotherapy

What is Psychotherapy

Therapy is a general term used to describe the interaction between a therapist and their client that aims to reduce the client’s psychological and emotional difficulties.

Individuals come to therapy when emotional difficulties or a situation become too overwhelming to deal with without additional support. The types of issues people bring include: relationship difficulties, life transitions (change in jobs/career, grief and loss), isolation, poor self-image and gender identity issues.
Counselling and psychotherapy have many common qualities, however there are key differences. Counselling is more likely to focus on a specific problem or a situation a person is struggling with. Psychotherapy is more concerned with the exploring an individual life patterns, their journey so far, with the aim to develop new insights and restructure their life or choices.

Have you asked yourself, “am I living wholeheartedly”?

Joseph Campbell told us “to follow your bliss”. If you have yearned to live your life more fully, to understand things in your life that you find troubling and explore new pathways, then you may have taken Joseph Campbell’s challenge as well.
To assist you on your personal journey, I offer you my whole-life experience and knowledge as a women, first generation Australian, consultant and lifelong student. This includes years of learning and applying diverse therapeutic modalities, myth, ritual, and practical wisdom.
If you feel prepared go beyond the familiar and the comfortable, then I hope my approach sparks something in you.

Here is how I work in my psychotherapy practice:

‣ I work with individuals who come from diverse backgrounds and needs;
‣ I offer a confidential counselling and psychotherapy for individuals;
‣ I use a Gestalt psychotherapy approach that focuses on deepening awareness in what is happening in your life now, that informs/impacts your situation, patterns and behaviours that could be getting in your way;
‣ My primary aim is always to build a trusted and non-judgemental space for my clients where our work can be explored together with mutual respect and compassion;
‣ Together we look for new insights and build the self-supports needed to create lasting change.

I offer 50-minute sessions for individuals in my consulting rooms or Zoom sessions.
I’m happy to discuss your needs further over the phone or during the initial session.
